General Information

NEW OWNERS:  If there has been an ownership change (such as the recent purchase of a property) please forward the tax statement to the current owner immediately or return it to the Municipal Office.

MAILING ADDRESS: Please advise our office promptly of any change of mailing address.  If you prefer to email us the mailing address update, please send it to general@rmofsteanne.com. Please note that failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse an owner of the responsibility for the payment of taxes nor relieve that owner of penalties incurred.

OWNERSHIP MAPS:  The Municipality sells Ownership Maps to the public, property owners and lease holders.  Any person has the right to request that their name not be published on the map.  This request has to be done in writing to the RM Office.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE:   In case of an emergency, residents are reminded to call 9-1-1 for police, fire or ambulance services.  Please state your 5 digit civic number at the end of your driveway as well as the Municipal Road No.  you live on.  If you do not have a civic number posted at the end of your driveway, please contact the Municipal Office.

ASSESSMENT:   It is the property owner's responsibility to check the assessed value of their property. The breakdown of your assessments can be obtained in person at the Assessment Branch in Steinbach (204-326-9896).  The removal of buildings from your property should be reported promptly in writing to the Municipal Office or to the Assessment Branch.

Manitoba’s property assessment services are now digitally available. Property owners can access their assessment notice by creating an account on the MyPropertyMB digital portal. Through the portal, property owners have access to enhanced details of their property assessment, such as buildings assessed on their property, characteristics including building age, size, and features that impact the assessed value.

Access MyPropertyMB digital portal with the links below.

GRASS & BRUSH FIRES:   Where any type of fire (eg. bonfire, grass fire and/or brush fire) deliberately set by a resident gets out of control and requires emergency services, the property owner may be fined up to $1,000.00 as per the Municipal Fire By-law.  Please call your area Fire Chief regarding fire bans during the year.

FALSE ALARMS:  As per Res. #396-06, "effective January 1, 2007, the RM of Ste. Anne will charge $300.00 to property owners for each false alarm call exceeding two (2) false alarm calls per calendar year".

DRIVEWAY CULVERTS:   It is the property owner's responsibility to keep the culverts, across their driveway, free of debris and obstructions.  New culvert installations require culvert permits from the Municipality.  Please contact the office at 204-422-5929 for further information.

SNOW PILED ON MUNICIPAL ROADS:   The practice of cleaning private lands and driveways of rocks, hay bales and/or snow on Municipal Road Allowance, creates a hazard during municipal snow plowing.  The RM of Ste. Anne will take the necessary action to enforce the Highway Traffic Act and the Municipal Obstructions By-law.  Any person acting in contravention of these will be held liable for any claims arising out of their actions. Violators will be invoiced by the Municipality for removal services and may be fined under the Obstructions By-law.
